New England Journal of Medicine comments on Antivaccinationist

The New England Journal of Medicine publishes a perspective article on the antivaccinationist movement

This issue of the New England Journal of Medicine published a well written article on the antivaccinationist movement. This article was written after accusations of fraud were brought against Wakefield.

The article cover some historic background of the issue and outlines some of the shortcomings in the media, who amplify sensational headline grabbing news like the original Wakefield study, as flawed as they were but do little to elevate the dozen studies that refuted his findings. It just was not news worthy. The general population remains very ignorant of the truth. The damage has been done and lives have been lost. We are having a resurgence of vaccine preventable disease today.

Please read the article and leave comments on my blog.
